I am really loving these blogger features because it has become such a great way for me to meet and learn about some pretty amazing people.
Today I’d like to introduce you to Erin.
When did you first start blogging and why?
I started blogging after I was inspired by other blogs I was reading. I realized that I had a story to share and that maybe I could help other people the way that they had helped me. It was also a way for me to get my thoughts out because I am normally a pretty introverted person.
What is your most helpful blogging tip?
Write sincerely. I have connected the most to bloggers who write honestly and about real life experiences. This includes ups and downs because I like to know that I am not the only one who struggles sometimes.
What is your favorite fitness activity?
I have two: running and leg day at the gym. I love the meditative aspects of running and the soreness aspects of strength training my legs
What motivates you?
The way that I feel by living a healthier lifestyle. When people come to me with questions about my experience with these things it also motivates me to continue doing them.
What has fitness changed about your life?
A lot. My energy level, my perspective on life, my goals for the future, etc. I think it is so important to invest in your health now to avoid unnecessary medical costs/issues in the future.
What is your favorite pump up song?
Oh man, I don’t know. It depends on whatever I am listening to at the time. As long as it has a strong beat it can usually pump me up. One Direction was the last thing I had on at the gym. Don’t judge me.
What is your favorite running distance?
Probably a 10K. I could do a half marathon if I really felt like it, but the 10K is a comfortable distance for me. I don’t actually enjoy races because I psych myself out and it ruins my meditation mojo.
What is your favorite motivational quote/mantra?
I want to always try and be better today than I was yesterday. This applies on many different levels.
What is your favorite piece of running/fitness gear?
I’ve only used it once so far, but my Garmin GPS watch is great for unplanned runs outside. I’m planning on using it much more as the weather gets nicer!
What is your favorite “treat”?
Any dessert that I made from an ohsheglows.com recipe. I don’t like eating a lot of sugary treats anymore now that I changed my diet. Angela’s recipes are vegan and often gluten free although you wouldn’t know it. She uses natural sweeteners like maple syrup and dates and everything is DELICIOUS.
What is a long term running or fitness goal you have for yourself?
I think doing a half marathon would be cool, but I don’t know that I NEED to do one to feel accomplished. I could just run the distance on my own time and that would be good enough for me
Tell us something unique about yourself.
I have one thumb smaller than the other. So does Megan Fox so I guess that makes me cool/a movie star.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone who is starting out running, what would it be?
Be easy on yourself. If you have to stop and walk, walk. Just do what you can when you can. It takes time and patience with yourself.
How do you find/make time to train?
I have a pretty typical work schedule so I am able to plan around that. Sometimes it means waking up early or getting home later, but it’s a priority for me to take care of my health. It doesn’t seem like an inconvenience when I look at it that way.
What is an accomplishment you are most proud of?
Being in recovery. I struggled with addiction for years and will be clean for 4 years this coming May. It’s part of my personality and will never go away, so each day that I stay clean is a mini milestone for me.
