Motivation Monday Part 2

My Personal Favorites Giveaway ends tonight at midnight! Hurry Hurry! The winner will be announced in Tuesday’s post!

This rest day thing is hard for me. I know it is needed but boy I was itching to go sweat!

I instead busied myself around the house getting random chores done. I also had some grocery shopping to get done. Our cabinets and refrigerator are pretty bare so we needed to stock up on a few things!

After we finished at the grocery store we were both hungry.

We stopped by a local Chinese buffet for dinner. It may have not be the healthiest of options, but it was delicious! Everything in moderation.

They had one of those grills where you pick out what you want cooked, the sauce, and then they cook it. It honestly was just what we needed on this crazy cold day.

It is one of those days where you stay inside as much as possible.

The above picture was the only picture I took yesterday – oops! Oh well. I thought I would bring you another round of Motivation Monday Quotes.

If you follow me on Instagram you may have already seen some of these.

I love quotes and they really help me when I am struggling for motivation. I hope they will help you as well as this new week begins! These are all quotes that I have used recently in my life.

This quote I found last week when I was getting ready to type up the post about my disordered eating habits.

It is so true and it reminded me that sometimes we just have to stop playing the victim. We have to realize what we are doing to hurt ourselves or realize what others are doing to hurt us and move on.  It is up to YOU to make the necessary changes in your life to be who and where you want to be. I still struggle with this but I am putting one foot in front of the other and trying not to look back.

Speaking of putting one foot in front of the other, this is a great little quote to remind yourself to just keep moving forward.  After I lost my job my husband always reminded me that it’s okay and that the most important thing is just to keep progressing forward.

Every day I try to find some way to improve myself whether is be financially, physically, emotionally, or mentally. There is always something that can propel us forward and I live each day just making the simple focus to keep moving forward.

I love this quote by Babe Ruth.  We all get pushed down. Sometimes we get pushed down by others and sometimes we are the ones pushing ourselves down.  This quote is a great reminder that sometimes the key is to simply just not give up.

I wanted to quit many times when I found out I was injured. This wasn’t my first injury and most likely it won’t be my last, but at many times I just wanted to throw my hands up the air and say “I quit”. I never did. THAT is what is most important. Even if you make the smallest baby steps in the world towards your goal, the key is to not give up.

By now you can probably see a trend in the quotes.  We have so much going on in our lives right now that over the past month or so some mornings it has just been difficult to not stay in bed all day. I used these quotes and other things to remind me of what is important.

Strength comes from doing the things you thought you couldn’t. It comes from getting out of bed when you didn’t want to face the world, it comes from admitting your struggles and overcoming, it comes from recognizing your faults and being bigger than they are, and it comes from simply doing things that at once you never thought you could!

Finally, I wanted to leave you with a little humor.  In some ways Cookie Monster is a very wise fellow. There is much to be said about living in the moment. Some days it is really hard when all you can think about is tomorrow, next week, or even next year. Sometimes when things get tough we just need to slow down and eat a cookie.

Eating a cookie means doing something that makes you happy! Go for a run, go to the gym, go out to eat, plan a date night, spend time with your significant other, plan a weekend away, or just simply eat a cookie.

What are some of your favorite motivational quotes right now?

About Sara

Welcome to my blog! My name is Sara and this blog documents my journey as a wife and a runner. I train hard and put my heart and soul into my running. My life is a crazy journey full of ups and downs, and I am here to share it all with you!

  1. Loads of great things here, Sara! It is so important in all of our endeavors to separate the things we CAN control from the ones we CANNOT – and realize that we can only work on those things we can change. This is important in relationships – you cannot change someone else, not spouse, child, parent, friend, or whatever. So you need to decide if you can live with things as they are, and if not … what that means to you.

The same is very true with what you say about ‘playing the victim’ – you can let things control or paralyze you, or you can do something about them. Sounds much easier on paper than in reality, but you can not un-make the past, only learn from it. And the best way to show learning is to move forward with confidence.

And my final thought is that there are things in all of us that have shaped us – but for some people that thing comes to define them. A key thing is to find a way to recognize that which has shaped us (it will always be there) and take away the power of it to control or define who we are today.

    • Michael once again great thoughts!! I love the part about what we can and cannot change! This is true! I remember when Wes and I first got married there were several things I kept trying to change but they didn’t need to be changed! I realized that this was the man I married and I needed to accept him just the way he was!

I have let several things control or paralyze me for too long and it is time to break away from it! It doesn’t mean we aren’t going to have hard days and days we fall back into it, but it is time to let go and take control of what I can!

  2. Seeing that picture of Chinese food made me realize that I must make a stir fry for dinner tonight — yum! As we head into the holidays I’m loving this quote: “stop the glorification of busy”

  3. I love motivation posts. One of my favorite quotes I learned from Janae (at She says “I can do hard things.” I say this to myself multiple times a day.

  4. I have been looking over motivational, healthy, inspirational quotes lately….I really want something to touch me…to be that motivator….I haven’t found it yet….although, I have found a lot that are good …soon I will find time to develop my own maybe?

I totally have an eating problem….I binge. And when I binge I go ape crazy. I am the first to admit I have’t been a huge holiday fan. So, when the holidays come around it is ALWAYS A STRUGGLE to be the happy mom, daughter, sister, wife…doing what I should LOVE to do…bake, shop, decorate etc….when really all I want to do is take a trip some where until its all over.

So, I have noticed a trend in my eating during this time. Binge, Binge, Binge….and my weight so reflects it. Emotional eater…yes. Stressful eater….yes. Been that way for years…yes. Cannot get a grasp on it at almost 45….UGH!

9 months out of the year I diet and eat well…..then 3 months I am a wreck. Getting by day by day. 😉

    • Sometimes all we can do is take it day by day :)

I am a binge eater too! Well I am coming out of it but when I get stressed or when I had my disordered eating I would binge. I think it will always be with me but I have learned that it is about making an effort to do the right things!

The holiday’s are a really hard time – I agree! I always try to focus on the non-food related parts of the holidays. spending time with family, my husband, and going through all the fun decorations! It’s okay to give in for the holidays some – otherwise it just makes it worse! :)

Hope this holiday season is better for you!!
