Happy Halloween!

Thanks for all of your great suggestions for a Halloween tradition. After reading them all I am still trying to come up with something, but will for sure let you know! I have a feeling it is going to be simple and relaxing – we really need that right now.

This is the only picture I could find of Wes and I dressed up over the years. We were juniors in college I think.

Halloween

I was a police officer and Wes was a ninja (he has an odd obsession with ninjas) :)

We haven’t been able to dress up much since then due to usually a marathon falling around that time, but it is fun to look back on.

First off, at the end of last month I was introduced to something called October Foodie Penpals from Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean.

I jumped at the opportunity, really before I thought about how busy I would be in Ocotber, however, I made sure to follow through.

You are matched with another blogger or blog reader and send each other delicious treats (homemade, store bought, local) whatever you decide to do.

I was matched with Lynn and was excited to give it a shot.

This is the package that was sent to me:

Yesterday I just wasn’t feeling like swimming and getting wet.  I wanted to do SOMETHING so I opted to take this pretty girl for a walk.

We always walk around my little “neighborhood” every morning and afternoon, but this time I decided to venture out a little ways.

Walk With Zoe

The total walk was around 45 minutes.  It was slow, leisurely, and exactly what we both needed.

Afterwards I did some upper body and core work before calling it a day.

Did I mention it is starting to really drive me nuts not being able to lace up my shoes and run!? I think this traveling may be a blessing because I am really starting to go crazy!

Dinner last night was a throw together Barbecue Chicken Crock Pot Recipe.

I also added in some carrots to get rid of them. I am slowly trying to go through all the food in our house.

I found these at the store the other day.

They are my husband’s favorite cookie and they remind us so much of Christmas.

I made these for desert, but substituted half he butter for apple sauce to make them a BIT healthier.

They still tasted delicious and we enjoyed them after dinner.

  1. It was definitely a great day for a walk yesterday – just the small bit of ‘outside time’ I got going from one Corning building to another was great!

I will be dressing up as a pirate and handing out candy. Neither kid has super-firm plans, but they are both all set for costumes – even ones they could wear to school (one is Doctor Who, other is mobster) … most schools have strict ‘no costume’ policies these days, at least in high school. Lisa has to work until ~7PM, but she is dressed up at work and will get to see a bunch of kids, so it will be fun.

I am easy in terms of Halloween – I like basic Hershey chocolate, peanut butter cups … pretty much all candy. I have found that as I have gotten more into ‘eating clean’ that I don’t have the taste for processed candy that I used to. So I might not eat much of anything.

You two look so *young* in those Halloween pics! :)

    • HA we were quite young in those pictures – almost 10 years younger! I’d say I was around 19 in that picture…or so.

Sounds like you will have a nice evening! We will have next to no kids come by our house so we will probably end up curling up with some scary movies and enjoying some relaxation before the craziness begins!

  2. Cute picture of you guys!!

Favorite treat as an adult….and I have been known to sneak some from my kiddos bags when they are not looking …is…Take5!

  3. Your girl is beautiful and I would place bets she would fit right in here on the Island where we have over 4000 sheep. Our collie turns herself inside out to round up the ewes, even without formal training.

We spent the evening taking Little around the village for Trick or Treat, at least Mister did. I drank wine with a friend and handed out treats. :D Favorite treat … Little knows to save me the Coffee Crisp and Butterfingers.

    • Aww Thank you Anita! My little girl would LOVE to be with 4000 sheep! lol she herds just about everything including our living room table!

Wine and handing out treats sounds like the perfect evening! Butterfingers are one of my favorites too!

  4. gingerbread is my FAVORITE! I’m even crazier about gingerbread than I am about pumpkin!! :)

  5. Those Unreal “M&Ms” are awesome!!! So nice to have no artificial ingredients but still be a candy :). LOVE the Halloween pictures – I have a hilarious one of Kevin and I from a few years ago that I just forgot to post !

    • They were really delicious! I had never tried them before!

Oooh I would love to see! Haha sadly that was the only picture I could find. We haven’t dressed up in so long!
